Swiss Steak and Potatoes

I made this Swiss Steak in my Fagor Lux Multi-cooker for the first time last week.  It cuts the cooking time way down and the results are every bit as good as the slow simmered method.


1 1/2 lbs Round Steak or Sirloin Tip, 3/4 inch thick cut into serving size pieces
1/4 cup Flour
1 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Pepper
3 Tbsp Olive oil
1 16 ounce can Diced Tomatoes
1 small Onion, chopped
1 large stalk Celery, thinly sliced
1 large Carrot, thinly sliced
1 Tbsp Worcestershire Sauce


Add the Olive oil to the Fagor cooking pot or saucepan.  Brown steak over medium-high heat or with the Fagor Multi-Cooker on the brown setting.  Add the undrained can of tomatoes, the onion, the carrot, the celery, and the Worchestershire sauce. Cover and cook over low heat for about 1 1/4 hours or put the lid on the multi-cooker and set the valve to pressure cook and set to high pressure for 25 minutes.  We generally serve this with baked potatoes or potatoes that have been peeled and quartered and cooked in the microwave or boiled.  It can also be served with rice or noodles.
